Do not underestimate this small device, it packs up a lot of hi-end features in a compact size.

So, without any further ado let us directly jump into the Hercules DJ Controller Starlight review.

A Brief Overview

Hercules DJ Control Starlight is best for entry-level DJs. In terms of functionalities, this one is offering a ton with a budget-friendly price tag.

The lightweight and compact design of this device make it easier for you to mix your music anywhere.

Along with all that, this device has a pretty easy layout and design that is best for entry-level gears.

You do not have to pay a lot of attention or spend hours after hours to understand the functions. You just have to touch the wheel and four pads to make it work according to your commands.

And also forget about any slow responses from this device as it has highly responsive sensors. You can easily control the tempo in a fraction of seconds.

Because of its compact size, it lacks some important ports, sockets, and controlling knobs but at the end of the day, you also have to remember that you are not paying enough for having everything.

Features

Compatible with Serato DJ Lite and Serato DJ Pro

The Hercules DJ control Starlight is supported by Serato DJ which is among the most popular DJ softwares out there. If you have previous experience with this software, then this controller is a no brainer.

And even if you don’t have experience with it, this software paired with an entry-level device like the Hercule Starlight will surely help a beginner to use something premium on a budget.

But If you have the Pro license of this software, then just enjoy making music and forget everything else.

RGB Light Effects

This controller has cool RGB lighting that allows you to bring the party with you wherever you go.  These lights react to the beat and the volume of the music. The lights can change with different music as well. This really helps to set the atmosphere of the party.

And it has greater uses besides being just a party trick. These lights can also work as indicators because you can customize them manually.

You can choose particular lights for particular control buttons so that you might not lose the track of the right button while performing as a DJ.

Integrated Audio Card

This one comes with an integrated sound card that helps a DJ to pre-listen their music. This is a pretty useful feature as a DJ can stop mixing whenever they want and listen to the music in the middle of the process to change, add, or alter something.

This is a very useful feature for both novices and experts. Integrated audio cards also enhance audio output which is always welcomed in such a musical profession.

My Overall Thoughts

Even though the Hercules DJ Control Starlight is an entry level controller, do not underestimate this device. You can pretty smoothly mix your music with its EQ buttons and base filters.

Not only that, I am amazed to see a touch-sensitive jog wheel and funky RGB lighting from an entry-level DJ controller like this one. Even the lights react with the music. That brings extra charm to your style.

This one also comes with an included audio card that helps you to pre-listen your music on the go. On top of that, you are getting a DJ headset included in the box. With all that, I must say it will ensure a smooth DJing experience for all the newbies out there.

It has standard software support and is compatible with Serato DJ Pro and Serato DJ Lite. Even you can run software like Virtual DJ and Algoriddim’s djay pro in it. That is quite unexpected from an affordable controller like this.

You are also getting 4 pads on each deck of the controller. Though the entire body is made out of plastic, it has a premium feel and the buttons will give you pretty tactile feedback. The pads are there for Sampler, Loop, Hot Cue, and Fx. These will help you to add funky beats to your music.

For output, you have more or less all the standard jacks. It has one 1/8″ stereo jack for master output and another 1/8″ for headphones. With the mini-USB port, you can easily connect this gear with your laptop.

One problem is that you will not be able to connect the gear with any microphone or external device as it does not have any port for these purposes.

But to avoid this problem, spend some bucks and buy a good converter according to your need. Then, you are good to go. This thing is acceptable for a budget device like this.

Conclusion

This is your Hercules DJ Controller Starlight review. Hopefully, you have gone through it all and gotten all the necessary information in detail to understand whether or not it would be the right DJ controller for you.

As you have probably learned by now, it packs a lot of nifty features for its price and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to get into DJing or just looking for a lightweight and portable DJ controller.
